Warner Bros. Discovery has established its EMEA leadership team under Priya Dogra, in her new role as President and Managing Director for the region.
“My goal has been to build a leadership team that leverages and balances the experience, perspective and talent across the Discovery and WarnerMedia businesses,” Dogra said. “Each leader will be responsible for pursuing the necessary transitions to new distribution methods and new forms of growth, as well as integrating our two organizations into a single team, with a clear strategy and a common and respectful culture.”
The company said the executives included in the structure today will be responsible for the “combined businesses of Warner Bros. Discovery in their respective territories, working in close coordination with the company’s global functions in streaming, sports, of American and studio programming and for each line of business, developing territory-specific strategies to drive growth and efficiency.”
These include the paid and free networks, the marketing and monetization of American content in their lines of business, including film, licensing, consumer products, games and home entertainment, and a “responsibility shared for streaming services”.
Those included in the Dogra team are:
Alessandro Araimo becomes Managing Director, Italy, Spain and Portugal. He was previously executive vice president and general manager of Discovery in Italy.
Pierre Branco becomes Managing Director France, Benelux and Africa. He was previously Country Manager for WarnerMedia in France, Benelux, Middle East and Africa and Head of Affiliates and Ad Sales for EMEA.
Jamie Cooke becomes Managing Director, CEE, Baltic, Middle East, Mediterranean and Turkey. He was previously Country Director for Discovery across CEE and the Middle East and Africa.
Hannes Heyelmann becomes Managing Director, Germany, Austria and Switzerland. He was previously senior vice president of programming for WarnerMedia in the EMEA region.
Antonio Ruiz becomes Managing Director, UK and Ireland. He was previously managing director of Discovery in Spain, France and Portugal.
Christina Sulebakk becomes Managing Director, Nordics. She was previously the general manager of HBO Max across Europe.
Other executives who will be part of Priya Dogra’s leadership team and supporting the region’s managing directors are:
Vanessa Brookman continues as SVP Kids and Family, EMEA and assumes responsibility for Adult Swim across EMEA in a dual reporting line with Michael Ouweleen, who runs Cartoon Network, Adult Swim and Boomerang.
Antony Root continues to be responsible for original production for HBO Max in the EMEA region as well as original production for the WM general entertainment channels in Germany, France and Spain.
Ragnhild Thorbech retains programming and acquisitions responsibilities for HBO Max EMEA.
Myriam Lopez-Otazu continues her investment management, planning and prioritization responsibilities for the Discovery and Discovery+ linear channels, in close collaboration with the general managers of the territory and in coordination with the American programming team.
Qaisar Rafique becomes head of business strategy, expanding the role he played at Discovery to a broader portfolio.
Those leaving the company following the restructuring include Sylvia Rothblum, Country Manager, Germany, Austria and Switzerland for WarnerMedia; Susanne Aigner, GSVP and Managing Director, Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Benelux for Discovery; Thomas Ciampa, Country Manager for Italy, Spain and Portugal for WarnerMedia; Lydia Fairfax, SVP Commercial Partnerships, EMEA for Discovery; and David Fisher, vice president of advanced advertising for Discovery.
