Dollywood Wins National Top Workplaces Award for Company Culture

Dollywood has one of the best corporate cultures in the country, according to a national ranking released on Tuesday.

The parks and resorts company made this year’s list of America’s Best Workplaces, which is determined using anonymous employee feedback.

This is the second year that the Top Workplaces USA designation has been awarded by workplace survey company Energage. East Tennessee company Harper Auto Square was on the list last year.

“Our goal has always been to have this culture of love and caring,” said Tim Berry, vice president of human resources at Dollywood. “What I like about this process is that you don’t ask me what I think, you ask our employees what they think.”

Of more than 1,100 companies ranked in the national competition, Dollywood was the only East Tennessee company to qualify.

Any organization with at least 150 employees was eligible to be on the national list and the results were calculated by comparing Energage’s anonymous employee surveys to industry benchmarks.

Dollywood is a permanent recipient of the local Top Workplaces designation, given to East Tennessee businesses by Knox News and magazine through a partnership with Energage.

A record 50 companies received the East Tennessee Top Workplaces designation in 2021.

“Employee experience should be on the mission critical list,” Energage CEO Eric Rubino said in a press release. “Leaders who embrace a people-centric culture will benefit greatly. By giving employees a voice and showcasing your authentic culture through employer branding, organizations can attract job seekers that complement their culture.”

Dollywood is Sevier County’s largest employer with 4,000 employees. As it prepares for the upcoming season, the theme park is looking to add more than 500 friendly faces to its team.

“We made our ‘Top Workplace’ pins and wear them proudly,” Berry said. “We brag about it as often as we can with ads and messages and things like that every time we talk about it. For it to carry over nationally, it means so much more.”
