Shopping with a cop is up to Laramie!

The Laramie Police Department, Wyoming Highway Patrol, Albany County Sheriff’s Office, Wyoming Game and Fish and University of Wyoming Police Department are teaming up again this year for the 2nd event. annual “Shop With A Cop” in the Laramie region on December 17th.

About 30 elementary students from Albany County school districts will be picked up from their respective schools by an officer and taken to Walmart by a patrol vehicle. All the agents and kids are expected to be at Walmart around 3:15 p.m., with each student shopping with an agent and spending around $ 150 however they want.

The goal of this event is to offer these children a slightly happier holiday season and to offer them a positive experience with law enforcement. Each family will also receive all the groceries needed to prepare a complete holiday meal with loved ones at home.

All remaining funds raised by the Foundation will go to Albany County School District # 1, Laramie Big Brothers / Big Sisters, Family Promise and Climb Wyoming.

The monetary donation for this event is provided by generous donations from the Walmart Supercenter, local businesses, members of our community, the Wyoming Hunger Initiative and the Laramie Police Department Foundation.
