Las Vegas Advisor: Palms Resort expected to reopen early next year

Information has finally surfaced regarding plans and scheduling for the return of the Palms, which is one of the few resorts in Las Vegas that has not reopened after the pandemic closed last year.

The delay in opening is due in part to the fact that the new owners, the Indian Band of the San Manuel Mission, have gone through the licensing process. This should be completed by the end of the year, opening the door to open the doors as early as January.

The resort will reopen as Palms, although the name may change afterwards. The bookmaker will be upgraded and most of the food court vendors will stay. The Kaos nightclub will remain closed while the tribe considers what will occupy this space. Paid parking is certainly not in the vision, which aims to transform the property into a “local casino on the Strip.”

New food court: Circus Circus has opened a new food court located in a space that was once part of the buffet. The food court has a Pick Up Stix, Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, Einstein Bros. Bagels and a Dairy Queen. The buffet is now open on weekends only.

Nickel line: The Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook deals with a 5 cent line on World Series games. The smaller spread between the prizes for each team to win reduces the house edge, similar to betting $ 105 to win $ 100, as opposed to the usual $ 110 / $ 100 in football.

Statue of Tyson: A 10-foot statue of former heavyweight champion and longtime Las Vegas resident Mike Tyson has been placed outside the Mulberry Street Pizzeria at Resorts World. Tyson is the second boxer to be so honored, joining the statue of Joe Louis that has featured in the Caesars Palace sportsbook for decades.

Question: What happened to Anthony Curtis’ interview on “CBS Mornings” on the buffets? I looked at the date listed in this column and it didn’t work.

Reply: No, this was postponed as it often happens with features that are not time sensitive. A new broadcast date has not been announced.
