Britney Spears’ father suspended from ‘Toxic’ singer

Britney Spears’ father Jamie Spears was immediately suspended from the famous artist’s financial control on Wednesday after 13 years as a restaurateur.

“The current situation is not tenable. This reflects a toxic environment that necessitates the suspension of Jamie Spears effective today, ”Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Brenda Penny said at a court hearing.

The Spears case returned to court on Wednesday after a summer of surprise twists, shocking allegations, commitments and growing speculation that the legal arrangement controlling the singer’s life would soon end.

“Mr. Spears has been ordered to turn over all assets to the Trusteeship,” Ms. Penny said.

Spears will be replaced by an accountant, John Zabel, on a temporary basis, Ms. Penny said.

The judge had not decided whether to put an end entirely to the guardianship which also governs the singer’s personal life. A court hearing will be held in November to decide the future of the guardianship.

Spears’ attorney, Mathew Rosengart, described his father as a “cruel, toxic and abusive man,” CNN reported.

The artist did not participate in Wednesday’s hearing but was represented by his lawyer.

“Britney deserves to wake up tomorrow without her father as a curator,” Mr Rosengart said. “This is what my client wants, this is what my client needs, this is what my client deserves.”

Spears’ fiancé Sam Asghari responded to the decision on Instagram by posting “FREE BRITNEY! CONGRATULATIONS !!!!!!!!!” with a photo of what appears to be handing her a rose to the singer.

After years of controlling his daughter, the Circus The singer’s father, Mr Spears, suddenly requested an end to his guardianship in early September.

A new documentary claiming the singer’s phone and bedroom had been tapped by her father may have fueled the decision.

Mr Rosengart has demanded that his father be suspended as the keeper of the singer’s $ 60 million estate. And if things couldn’t get more dramatic, Spears, 39, got engaged to her longtime boyfriend.

He insisted in court records that Mr Spears be immediately removed from his position as curator and that a transitional period be agreed so that the increasingly controversial tutorship can be terminated before the end of the year.

Mr Spears has controlled his daughter’s business affairs since 2008, when he placed her under guardianship following an alleged mental breakdown. Court-approved guardianship dictates his personal, medical and financial affairs, but the nature of his mental condition has never been revealed.

In court documents ahead of Wednesday’s hearing, Mr Rosengart said Mr Spears had “crossed unfathomable lines” by monitoring his daughter’s calls, emails and texts, including messages to his old man. lawyer, and placing a listening device in his room.

The claims were made in the New York Times documentary Controlling Britney Spears, which was released last week.

Spears appeared puzzled by the film.

“I have to say I scratched my head a few times! I really try to dissociate myself from the drama! she commented on Monday in an Instagram post. “Number one is the past! Number two, can dialogue become more classy? “

Mr Spears said his actions fell within his authority as a curator. He rejected calls to step down, saying an experienced hand is needed during a period of transition from tutelage to a regular business owner.

The singer stepped up her efforts in June to break free from tutelage, telling the judge in her first public comments that she found the situation abusive and humiliating.

Public support for him swelled and some restrictions on Spears were relaxed. She can now drive her own car and said she bought her first iPad.

Two weeks ago, she announced her engagement to Sam Asghari, 27, her personal trainer boyfriend for over four years. In the past, her father controlled who might be in the singer’s life, going so far as to fire her after the two became close.
