Johnson City Mall to Celebrate 50 Years | WJHL
JOHNSON CITY, Tennessee (WJHL) – For half a century, shoppers have been able to turn to The Mall in Johnson City for last-minute Christmas gifts, quick snacks to eat in the food court, or spontaneous shopping sprees .
The community can join in the fun on Saturday, October 2 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the lower level parking lot to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the mall serving the region.
The festivities will include a ribbon cutting and performances by Night Owl Circus Arts and The Kindest People. Food trucks will line parking lots, including Trucky Cheese, Lettuce Wraps, Blues Brews, and Mimi’s Cookies and Creamery.
Admission is free, but guests are encouraged to bring donated food and toys for dogs and cats from the Washington County, Tennessee Animal Shelter.
The first 200 guests will receive a complimentary Miracle Mall branded coffee cup.
“We are thrilled to be celebrating our 50th anniversary with the community,” said Ashley Grindstaff, General Manager of The Mall in Johnson City. “The Johnson City Mall is a sentimental place with a lot of memories. We look forward to welcoming guests young and old to share their memories and have a fun day reflecting on all of the progress that Miracle Mall has made over the years.
The celebration will also close a series of additions to The Mall in Johnson City, including information stores such as Rose & Remington, HomeGoods and Curve & Cloth.
The mall is also adding its second mural project with East Tennessee State University alumnus Caitlin Maupin, who designed a Johnson City mural on the front of the mall last year.
