Eastleigh Unwrapped arts festival set to make a comeback
LIVE performances are set to take place on the streets of Eastleigh and Hedge End as an arts festival returns.
Point Theater is asking residents to “unwrap the gift of shared live experiences” as its free Eastleigh Unwrapped arts festival returns this fall.
For the first time, the festival will take place on two dates and two locations with events on September 11 in Eastleigh and Hedge End on September 12.
Residents are told to keep an eye out for the Merry Maker and his minute-long rap on a three-wheeled tricycle; follow The Puppet Van’s quest to find the pinkest pink paint on the planet with Half A String; and take part in a mind-blowing ceilidh as the favorites of Unwrapped Folk Dance Remixed with their folk / street dance fusion are back.
Pop-up activities and walks will take place in downtown Eastleigh with Market Street, High Street and Wells Place all closed for the day again.
Live musicians will be in place throughout the day on the High Street, live art in Market Street, participatory pavement art in Wells Place, and an app-based history trail featuring videos and stories. challenges created by artists will also be available.
In addition to this, Eastleigh Business Improvement District (BID) also hosted circus skills near the railway statue and a community and commercial stall market.
It comes after last year’s event was canceled due to the pandemic.
In 2019, over 7,000 people watched a variety of performances from ‘some of the UK’s most exciting artists and performers’.
Charlotte Hall, Creative Director at The Point Eastleigh, said: “Our ambition is for the 2021 Festival to bring our work to as many people as possible this year at two locations across the borough.
