Be part of the parade on July 4th – Methow Valley News
The Twisp room is looking for participants
Whether you intend to travel on foot, horseback, bicycle, float, car or truck, anyone interested in taking part in the revived July 4th Twisp Parade is welcome to register.
The parade was canceled in 2020 due to COVID concerns, but is back this year from the usual time: 11 a.m. from the TwispWorks campus, then northbound on Glover Street through the heart of the downtown. This year, the parade route is extended: it turns right (east) on Twisp Avenue until it reaches Lincoln Street, where it makes another right (south) turn and returns to TwispWorks.
“Everyone is welcome to be a part of the Twisp parade,” the sponsor Twisp chamber of commerce advised in its promotional material. “Show off your business, organization, prize horse, classic car, musical talent, dance moves, circus skills, or any other form of patriotic entertainment that spectators would like to see.”
Also expect the usual candy tossing at spectators and a drench from Okanogan County Fire District 6 trucks.
The parade is coordinated by the chamber, which makes registration forms available at http://twispwa.com/fourth-of-july-parade-application-form. Participation is free and open to all ages. Application forms can be dropped off at the Twisp Visitor Information Center at Methow Valley Community Center, or can be mailed to the Twisp Chamber of Commerce, PO Box 686, Twisp, WA 98856.
The parade staging begins at 10:00 am Riders will meet in the parking lot behind Hank’s Harvest Foods and proceed to TwispWorks at approximately 10:45 am to join the other participants. Pedestrians, bicycles and cars will meet in the TwispWorks parking lot. Floats, boats and trucks will line up on Lincoln Street, just north of TwispWorks.
The event’s sponsors are the Chamber of Commerce, 509 Automotive Repair, Cascade Concrete, Hank’s Harvest Foods, Methow Arts Alliance, Methow Valley Goods, Room One, Twisp House of Cannabis, TTT Roofing, Town of Twisp and VIP Cascades Agency. Assistance is provided in part by accommodation taxes from the Town of Twisp and Okanogan County.
