Saint-Louis nonprofits are grateful for Give STL Day

ST. LOUIS – Give STL Day is in its eighth year.

Amelia Bond is the President and CEO of the St. Louis Community Foundation which organizes the day of the donation.

“This year we have a record number of nonprofits, 1,100 have signed up.”

Nonprofits are listed on the website Bond says 5 On Your Side categories include: “Arts, Health, Education and a new category of black and black this year to benefit nonprofits.”

Last year was a big one, raising over $ 4.5 million.

Bond hopes this year will be a bigger one, she offers this advice to donors: “As I have said over the years, give some to one you know or more, and give to one that you don’t know. . “

A non-profit organization you may know Circus flora.

“Circus Flora hasn’t been able to perform since the summer of 2019,” said Karen Shoulders, general manager of the circus. “So obviously like a lot of our performing arts companies in the area, it was devastating.”

Hopefully Give STL Day will be a catalyst to get the Saint-Louis-based circus company back on its feet or high in the sky on a trapeze.

“This is an opportunity for our community to show a little love for us and for what we do,” Shoulders tells 5 On Your Side.

Circus Flora runs “Clowns on call“in conjunction with Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital to send visiting clowns throughout the year. The circus company is also partnering with other nonprofits to provide free tickets with theirShare the circus“program.

Dragons Drum and Bugle Corps is a non-profit organization that you may not be familiar with. Keith Porter is the Corps Lt. Col.

“If you are passionate about activities that bring people together, connect communities and showcase different cultures, then please support Dragons Drum and Bugle Corp.,” he said.

The Dragons is a free program for teens, providing them with professional instruments and instructions. In summer, the practices end with swimming and healthy snacks.

“This is what we are about,” Porter tells 5 On Your Side, “we’re all about nurturing musical youth, all about multiculturalism, we’re all about equity, diversity and inclusion.
